I’m sitting propped up on a bar stool between two of the most corpulent crooks you can find this side of the Yarra river, the Fratelli twins, both of which are eating Mt. Vesuvius size helpings of Fettuccini Carbonara. Content with my Iced Lemon Tea I can’t wait for my buddy The Turk to be done with his little business with Billy Flanagan aka The Merchant so that we can get the hell out of here. I have an appointment with my dentist Doc Benway at 3 pm anyways; my back molar has been killing me ever since that cricket ball cracked my face yesterday. I don’t even like cricket, it was a wayward ball thrown by a neighborhood kid. Come to think of it perhaps it wasn’t too wayward knowing little Timothy Caprice, that little rat.
I’m ranting here, it’s the pain of my teeth and the agonizing waiting I’m doing here. The Fratelli twins also aren’t exactly conversational experts, the only time they open their mouths is to add another helping of pasta into them. I guess I shouldn’t complain, if The Turk is right about Billy Flanagan’s new supply then we are talking a lot of money here.
I shouldn’t be telling you this but I am bored beyond my mind here so just keep whatever I spill to yourself. What Billy has this time around is a shipment of Negative Film and Slide Image Scanners. It’s one of those transient technologies that help convert your old stuff into new tech. It’s what the experts call real cool shit. Suppose you have like old negatives of family holiday trips or some ancient slides of your 4th birthday when you were a kid nearly a decade ago right, what this stuff does is turn those photos into digital shots! And everything is digital nowadays so basically you get to store them where ever you need, be it your mobile or your laptop or your digital camera. The stuff is great.
I mean common, how old are you, 75? 80? I mean you have to be one of the oldest bartenders I have ever seen. That’s a lot of old negatives you might have. Its no good now, you need to convert that’s stuff to digital. That way you can keep them for another 50 or 100 years, I mean not that you would have use for them that long looking at your age now, and that cigar habit can’t be healthy, but for your grandkids you know. What am I saying 50 or 100 years, digital lasts forever. So I am saying you should get one of those, just ask Billy for one maybe.
I mean you look like you would have been a handsome man back in the day, you must have thousands of great photos, you know back when you had hair and all. These are images that you should treasure. One can only hope that when I am as old and decrepit as you I would have the vast storage of memories to fill my lonely life up as well.
Man my teeth is killing me, do you have any Fries, I think maybe the salt from the Fries will help with the pain, I don’t know. I should take a picture of us.
