We've actually got two sets of Arkon headphones today, but all the way till the last minute we couldn't decide what to put up as the "big fish". The stereo set is better suited for music and applications where accurate sound reproduction is the priority, and we recommend the surround set for gamers and people looking forward to immersing themselves in a nice DVD.
Arkon are a company based in sunny California, USA, and are known to bring out some top quality consumer level headphone sets. This set is no exception, offering up to 50m roaming distance. More than enough range to cover most applications in the home. Using an RF signal with phase lock loop technology, the signal quality is far less prone to interference from household objects and walls, than say, a system based on an infrared signal. I've tested the set out on the new White Stripes album (brilliant album), the sound is direct, powerful and high fidelity. What surprised me the most was the high end reproduction being specially sharp and defined, not slathering and loose like many wireless sets tend to be.
I can think of endless applications for a wireless headphone set; maybe you would like to share the living room with another family member, watch a movie and not disturb their quiet reading time. Or maybe your mate is watching a movie and you are dying to listen to the radio at the same time.
